The Sims 3 Showtime gave our Sims an Occult like no other; the ever impressive, long contained, often imitated, never duplicated… Genie of the lamp! Unfortunately this one isn’t prone to breaking out into song, but they are blue!
The Lamp
Just like every other tale, a Genie in The Sims 3 comes by way of a dusty old lamp. There are a few ways for your Sims to get hold of one, some easier than others:
- Exploring the Catacombs at the Mausoleum in the town Graveyard
- Giving a Legendary stage performance as a Magician, Acrobat, or Singer
- Travelling through the dimensional gate with the PlasmaPunch Gyroscopic Conductor
- Purchasing the Lifetime Happiness Reward
Dusty Old Lamp – 30,000 LTH
This lamp can make all your wishes come true with only a little polishing.
When your Sim has acquired one, all they need to do is select the Clean Lamp interaction and your Genie will appear.
Granting Wishes
There are ten wishes for your Sim to choose from, but they only get three! Even if they wish for more wishes, they receive one additional wish which just replaces the one they used. Check out the table to see the consequences of your choices.

| Free the Genie | Requires a high relationship with the Genie to be available. Makes the Genie part of the household. | No |
Freeing the Genie
When a Sim has a high enough relationship with the Genie and makes a wish to free them, they will receive an Opportunity chain to do so. This will require them to:
- Freeze the lamp by putting it in the fridge
- Heat the lamp by putting it in the oven
- Explore the Catacombs with the lamp
Once the Genie has been freed they will become a controllable member of the household and no longer be able to grant wishes.
Using Mods to Turn your Sim: Install Nraas Master Controller, then Click on the Sim and select Nraas – Master Controller – Intermediate – Occult: Add – Genie
Abilities and Vulnerabilities
While freed Genies cannot grant wishes, they can perform a variety of actions of use to their new family.
- Magically Clean Sim: Fills a Sim’s Hygiene need and gives them the Magically Spotlessly Clean (+20) moodlet for 30 minutes. This can be used on any and every Sim, regardless of life stage, and significantly increases the Genie’s relationship with the target.
- Make House Spotless and Sparkly: Cleans whole lot and leaves a sparkling effect.
- Summon Food: Summons perfect quality food.
- Banish Sim: Removes an unwanted visitor from the lot. Significantly decreases the relationship between them and the Genie.
- Ensorcel Sim: Target receives the Encorcelled moodlet lasting 4 hours and their Plumbob will glow purple. They are added to the household without autonomy with access to their full inventory. This cannot be used if the household limit has been reached. The Genie can use the Release interaction to end it prematurely.
Genies live twice as long as human Sims and can procreate to have Genie babies. In The Sims 3 Supernatural, a Genie can be created in Create a Household and a Sim can be turned into a Genie through the Vial of Bottled Genie Elixir. Genies are also immune to Fire and retain their abilities when they die and become Ghosts.
