For Teens who need extra cash but still have to attend school and for Adults and Elders who want to work but need that flexibility, part-time careers are the solution. Your Sim can choose from a variety of simple jobs that usually run in the mid-afternoon and take a few hours out of their day.

Part-Time Jobs are designed to work around regular schedules your Sims might face, such as childcare or school. The hours and days remain the same through the three levels and they are only ever required to show up in a good mood. Teens can go straight from school to work if they choose the Day Spa, the others will give space for them to return home from school before going back out again. If you are playing with The Sims 3 Generations then the Mausoleum Clerk is probably the best role if you want your teens to be able to attend Afterschool Classes. Some jobs will have days off that mean teens can attend one or two of the options but it is more likely they do one or the other because of time clashes.

Since these jobs only ever require your Sim to be in a good mood, you can even choose the Take It Easy tone and advance through the ranks quickly. Just like any other career, once your Sim’s performance bar is filled at Level 3 they automatically get a raise. Even though the pay is so little to begin with, your Sims can end up being paid a lot for 3 hours work and no skills or relationships are required.
