New with The Sims 3 Late Night, the Film Career allows you to embrace your inner star and become an Actor or Director. Head to the Plumbob Studios Film Backlot to join the career. If there isn’t one in your chosen world, it will be in the library as a 64×64 lot or you can make your own backlot that is smaller using the rabbit hole in build mode! Teenagers with Level 3 or higher Celebrity can join as a part-time starlet.

Making Magic on the Silver Screen
Sims who pursue the Film career will be interested in one thing – fame. Regardless of their choice of branch, whether they are a performer or a writer, they will need to reach the highest accolades of Celebrity status to make their mark in this industry. To improve their Celebrity level they will need to be seen out and about and make friends with Celebrities. It won’t be easy, most Celebrities won’t speak to a nobody and impressing them takes some work if you don’t know anything about them. Hanging out at local clubs and bars will guarantee you face time with someone famous but your Sims will need to keep an eye on which places are the hotspots and bear in mind that the more exclusive places will have a velvet rope to get past. Some bouncers accept bribes, others won’t notice if you sneak in, but nothing screams “nobody” like being kicked out of a Celebrity-filled club for not meeting the threshold.
Fame is just one side of it, though, and your Sims will need to perfect their skills to achieve greatness as an Actor or Director. To build Charisma and make enough friends to do so, throwing parties and inviting Celebrities will be a big help. Writing novels can be extra income for aspiring Directors and will lead to the ability to Write a Screenplay. As you navigate the branches you will be awarded for your achievements; at level 7 you will receive a Sims Choice Award, Level 9 gives a Green Orb Award and Level 10 comes with the coveted Simmy Award. Level 10 also comes with particular rewards – a Director’s chair or an Actor’s trailer. Among many things, the trailer serves as one of the latest Woohoo locations.
